A Very Rainy Christmas and an Infected Left Ear!

Well, the good news is June is finally feeling better! After struggling with teething and trying to fight off a cold for about a week things took a turn for the worse two days before Christmas. We weren't sure what was wrong we just knew that June was completely miserable and with the holiday and being away from home we weren't able to make it to the doctor for several days. The day after Christmas we went to Urgent Care and found out an ear infection was to blame and got some antibiotics in her right away. Things are looking up now, although her teeth still seem to be bothering her at night- the two top ones are still trying to break through.

So Christmas was a little bit of a bummer this year. We didn't make it to the parties that we had planned on and missed seeing a lot of people. Plus it rained on Christmas Day- yuck! We also didn't get many pictures and in the ones we got, you can see what June did the whole time she was sick. The last picture shows her as she is starting to feel better. Thank goodness!!!

Coming soon... a more positive post! I Promise :)

Happy Birthday to June!!!!!!!

Can you believe June is one year old already? We are trying to figure out where the time has gone? We celebrated June's birthday this weekend with a few friends and family at our house. June had a great time playing with her friends, she caught on pretty quickly to opening presents and she definitely enjoyed chowing down on her cake! Here are a few pictures and a video from the day. Thanks to everyone who was able to join us and also to all of those who sent June nice greetings and gifts by mail!

We are looking forward to one more small celebration this week in Royal Oak with Grandma and Grandpa Yost other family friends. More birthday pictures to come!

June is Thankful for her Family!

We are home now after spending a very nice Thanksgiving weekend with family in Michigan. We were spoiled by each Grandma with a yummy turkey dinner, which June (and Keith) really enjoyed! She also had fun playing with Grandma and Grandpa Yost and loved watching Grandpa's fish. Then it was over to Fennville where June got to hang out with her cousins at Grandma and Grandpa Coffindaffer's house. She was excited to be part of the fun, now that she can walk and try to keep up! Ethan thought it was really fun to have June chase him and she thought it was great too- even though most the time she was lucky to even keep him in view let alone catch him! Here are some pictures from the trip:

It is Official: She Can Walk!

I will be sure to get a video very soon, but you are just going to have to trust me for now: June is walking! It took a couple of weeks to go from little tentative steps to all out walking, but she is really getting around now. It is funny when we are out and people see her, they can't really figure her out at all. Usually I think they just assume she is several months younger than she is due to her size but now when they see her walk, they come right out and ask her age. Anyway, she is having a blast parading proudly around the house. For some reason she really likes to carry things with her as she travels; toys, Captain's bone (gross), rolls of toilet paper, books, whatever she can find and usually one thing in each hand. It is like she has just been waiting all this time to rearrange things around here.

Not much else is really new. We have been getting outside as much as possible and soaking up every last minute of sunshine, the weather has been really nice here the past couple of weeks!

Here are a few recent pictures...

Halloween!

June was a strawberry for her first Halloween! The evening of Halloween was a little cold and windy here so we thought we had it all figured out by staying in and letting June greet the trick-or-treaters since she is really into other kids right now. We figured she would enjoy having them come to the door and seeing all the different costumes. We knew that we might not get a ton of visitors since our street is somewhat hidden but we got our candy ready and hoped for the best.... and after two and a half hours we got our only three trick-or-treaters! We were kind of bummed, but figured she doesn't know the difference and she did get a kick out of the three that came.

Luckily, June's costume wasn't a waste! There was a festival in town that we took her to for young kids. June rode there in her green stroller, (that happened to match her costume perfectly) she was smiling and waving to anyone whose attention she could get and most people took that as an invitation to guess what she was dressed as. A ladybug, an apple, an elf? Close... anyway... There were games and lots of candy and even a hay ride that took us through the neighborhood and it was a beautiful fall day. We had fun.

The First Few Steps!

We can't believe it! June has been really working on standing up on her own and cruising around holding onto furniture but we didn't realize how close she was to walking. Then suddenly she tried taking a few steps and then a few more. It will take some more practice before she is very stable but she is definitely on her way!!!

Here is the footage! Go June Go!

June in a Box!

Got a couple of cute pictures last weekend while my family was in town that I thought I would share. We had an impromptu Thanksgiving dinner since Alex will be out in Colorado for the winter and won't be able to make it back for the real thing. June liked joining in the fun but wasn't crazy about the food. Strangely, she found the mashed potatoes to be the worst. Also have a video of June getting ready to walk, which we think looks pretty funny due to her size! That's all for now.

The Latest and Greatest

Not too much has happened since the last post. June is still happily dancing the days away! In fact, we are starting to wonder if all of her dancing is getting in the way of her progress in other areas?? (After all her Dad has that problem all of the time) No seriously, she has been working on climbing the stairs, with close supervision of course, but after each step she takes a dance break and sometimes forgets what she was doing in the first place. The same thing happens when she is standing holding onto furniture or walking behind her walker. Hilarious!

June and I are very proud of her Dad this week as he has earned a big promotion at work! We know how hard he has been working and think that he couldn't deserve it more. Thanks for everything you do for us. We love you, you are the very best.

As some of you know, June, Keith, Emily and I have been training for a 5K race that took place a couple of weeks ago here in Plainfield. The race was a success! Emily and I improved on our times from last time and Keith was a great motivator for me until the last half mile when I (allegedly) asked him to "stop talking." We also had the best cheering section around- thanks Leslie and June! Here are some post race photos:
